Vømmøl, moonshine and Hans Rotmo

A nice morning with paper, pensil and ink..

This weekend, in Verdal, Norway, The Vømmøl festival is going to hit hard. Focusing on folk music and moonshine culture. Needed to do some illustration around this festivitas. Living with Andreas Newberg and the man at the bottom is no one else than Hans Rotmo, the godfather of the music and festival.

New linocut

Todays studio work. Doing more linoleum prints, got hocked, for an exhibition later this year.

Linocut is a printmaking technique, a variant of woodcut in which a sheet of linoleum (sometimes mounted on a wooden block) is used for the relief surface. A design is cut into the linoleum surface with a sharp knife, V-shaped chisel or gouge, with the raised (uncarved) areas representing a reversal (mirror image) of the parts to show printed. The linoleum sheet is inked with a roller (called a brayer), and then impressed onto paper or fabric. The actual printing can be done by hand or with a press.
Although linoleum as a floor covering dates to the 1860s, the linocut printing technique was used first by the artists of Die Brücke in Germany between 1905-13 where it had been similarly used for wallpaper printing. They initially described their prints as woodcuts however, which sounded more respectable.

My Scream

My scream, only 107..

The Scream (Norwegian: Skrik) is the name given to each of several versions of a composition, created as both paintings and lithographs by the Expressionist artist Edvard Munch between 1893 and 1910. The works all show an agonized figure against a red sky. The landscape in the background is the Oslofjord, viewed from EkebergOslo. One of the paintings of The Scream sold for a record $119,922,500 at Sotheby's Impressionist and Modern art auction on 2 May 2012 to an unspecified buyer.

Petter Olsen, former owner, who lives in Hvitsten, are planing something big. A nice and new Munch Gallery, and hopefully a place where I can exhibit some of my stuff..

One man shooked the world with his terrible act of terror in Norway. Now, what would you say to this man, if you had the chance?
