BEATS, BEATS & AFROBEATs
Few could disagree with the recent resurgence of electronic interpretations of world music. From the Kudaro bass of Buraka Som Sistema to a new wave of Cumbia and a welcomed comeback for tango-infused Gotan Project, even Gilles Peterson is back on the beat with a label hitting the high notes Talkin’Loud once did. On that tip, we are delighted to serve up a real heavy hitting BBQ of global beats from two talented artists representing Goa, Chile, Berlin, Ldn & Glasgow - places that undoubtedly filter into their explosive and highly regarded productions & live shows. Don’t play the fool if your in the Abz area, come and show your support for the prestigious global beat talents fLako and Auntie Flo this May 13th! FLAKO live (Brownswood, Project Mooncircle / Berlin, DE)
Chile born and now living between Berlin and London, FLAKO is one of Europe`s top beats producers - whoever you ask within the beat world will give you the same answer. Though first appearing on Beatnicks Vol.2 with his banging "Inside" track, it was not until his outstanding "Vortex Cookies" remix in late 2008 that the world took notice. His take on the Robot Koch produced track, w/Cerebral Vortex vocals, has been championed by Gaslampkiller, HudMo and many more and was labeled "Track of the year" by Jay Scarlett. Renowned for being straight KILLING IT live, he plays out as energetic as it gets and far away from Laptop staring boredom. So far the likes of Vilnius, Koln, Amsterdam, Vienna and London have witnessed his talent in effect. Be sure to catch him for the first time in Scotland!

AUNTIE FLO (Huntley & Palmers, Slabs of The Tabernacle / Glasgow, UK)
Hailing from Goa by way of Glasgow, Auntie Flo (aka Brian D'Souza) takes in influence from anything as far flung as Villalobos, Four Tet and Caribou, to Fela Kuti, William Onyeabor, and kwaito, alongside Kode 9's Hyperdub, Chicago house from Fast Eddie, Tyree Cooper, etc. More recently Matias Aguayo's Comeme imprint and some of the current movers and shakers from the UK scene. His latest release just dropped on Huntley & Palmers (the first release on the label) & has so far gathered great support from the like of Villalobos, Jackmaster, Sinden, Caribou, Joy Orbison and Egyptrixx due to it's old school tribal house vibes and stripped down funk. We are happy to announce that he will play a live set & DJ on this night.
